Get ready to test your skills and luck with the American version of the ancient Chinese game – Mah Jongg! Using the current 2025 National Mah Jongg League Rule Card, we’ll be playing by the standard rules of play. Check-in begins at 10 a.m. with the tournament starting at 11 a.m. Lunch and refreshments are included. Registration is required.

Halloween Bash

Calling all ghosts, goblins and creatures of the night! Creep, crawl or float on over to the Halloween Bash. This spooky celebration includes lunch, raffle prizes, party favors and a costume contest. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. and the undertaking begins at noon. Registration is required.

Arts and Crafts Fair

Join us for the annual Arts and Crafts Fair! This free, all ages event will feature over 100 arts and crafts booths, a balloon artist, live entertainment, a petting zoo, coffee and concessions and local food trucks. Scottsdale Library Book Discussion

Join us for a monthly book discussion. This group led by library staff meets at Via Linda Senior Center on the third Monday of the month. All books are available through the library for everyone to get a copy. October's book will be Department of Sensitive Crimes by Alexander McCall Smith.

This free, arts-based program is for individuals with mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers. A collaboration between Scottsdale Senior Services and Scottsdale Arts, workshops are led by professional artists that help individuals and their caregivers create meaningful memories through creative engagement. This program is offered at both senior centers. Register.

Arizona travel writer Roger Naylor will discuss his book The Amazing Kolb Brothers of Grand Canyon which covers the remarkable life of two of the canyon’s most significant pioneers and legendary photographers. Roger Naylor’s work has appeared in the Arizona Republic, The Guardian, USA Today, Arizona Highways, and dozens more. For years he has written for the official Arizona State Visitor Guide and in 2019 was chosen to write the Grand Canyon National Park Centennial Magazine. In 2020 he was chosen to be the narrator of the Verde Canyon Railroad. Register.

Fall Festival

Scottsdale Fall Festival is moving to Scottsdale Civic Center – and we're leveling up the fun! This free, family-friendly event features something for everyone: live band, DJ, magic show and for the first time ever – a cocktail garden. Kids can fill up their bags in Trick-or-Treat Alley, explore the Pumpkin Patch, enjoy carnival-style games, crafts, face painting and hands-on activities. Visit information booths hosted by city of Scottsdale departments to learn about upcoming projects and connect with staff. Don't miss out on "Tales from the Haunted Stacks" – a spooky library experience where storybook monsters come to life. Costumes are welcome but not required to join in on the fun.
