Scottsdale, Arizona (August 7, 2026) 41-year-old Joseph Ryan Vigil was indicted for one count of First Degree Murder by a Maricopa County Grand Jury in connection with the 2023 disappearance of Erin Weber, who remains missing from Scottsdale, AZ.

Erin was reported missing in January 2023 after her family became concerned when they were unable to contact her. Despite extensive investigative efforts spanning more than three years, Erin has not been located.

Throughout this investigation, our detectives served multiple search warrants, processed extensive forensic evidence, conducted numerous interviews, reviewed digital evidence, and worked alongside forensic specialists to analyze physical and biological evidence. Our detectives continued to pursue new leads and reexamine the case as additional information became available.

Their persistence and unwavering commitment ultimately resulted in evidence being presented to a Maricopa County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment charging Vigil with First Degree Murder.

Following the indictment, Vigil has since made his initial appearance in Maricopa County Superior Court. As this case is now pending prosecution, we will not release additional details at this time.

We extend our sincere condolences to Erin’s family and loved ones. While this indictment represents a significant milestone in the investigation, Erin’s disappearance continues to weigh heavily on her family, who have endured more than three years without answers. We remain committed to seeking justice on Erin’s behalf.

In a statement, the Weber family shared, “Erin was our sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and a loyal friend, and she was deeply loved. Together, we grieve her loss. We choose to remember not how she left us, but rather all that she was, and everything she still might have been. We ask the press and public for privacy to mourn her. We have no further comment at this time.”

Scottsdale Police Chief Joe LeDuc stated, “Our detectives remained committed to this case from the very beginning and never stopped pursuing the truth on behalf of Erin and her loved ones. While today’s development reflects years of dedicated investigative work, our thoughts remain with Erin’s family as they continue to carry the weight of this loss.”
