Sustainable Desert Gardening

Learn how to grow your garden sustainably in the Arizona desert. This workshop will be presented by Jo Miller, who is the co-author of Earth-Friendly Desert Gardening, winner of a national Communications Award and the Arizona Glyph award for "best gardening book" in Arizona. Space is limited, so please see a staff person prior to the start of the program to pick up a ticket which will be your registration

Art Submissions for 'All Together Now: Summer Art Exhibit 2023'

Calling all artists! The library is seeking original artwork for a juried multimedia exhibition to be held in the lobby of Civic Center Library in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is All Together Now, and artwork should reflect themes of kindness, unity and friendship. Submissions are due by April 30. Beat the Heat Outreach Program

Beat the Heat Outreach Program

You can bring summer relief to low-income, homebound and isolated seniors by donating to the Beat the Heat outreach program. Starting April 3, donation items are being accepted through May 26 and can be dropped off to Via Linda Senior Center at 10440 E. Via Linda Scottsdale, AZ 85258. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Scottsdale Earth Week Celebrates Commitment to Sustainable Future

From volunteer road cleanups and guided nature walks in our beautiful preserve, to an edible garden presentation and xeriscape garden tour, Scottsdale has a full line-up of events for everyone looking to recognize Earth and Arbor Day. Scottsdale Earth Week begins on Earth Day, from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, with a Green Expo at the North Corporation Yard. Join us for a special rededication ceremony of the "Son of Godzilla," the Scottsdale invention that advanced modern trash and recycling pickup, and explore sustainability-focused educational booths.

The week will conclude on Arbor Day, Friday, April 28, with a tree-planting ceremony to celebrate Scottsdale's 41st year as a Tree City USA community. Earth Week is an opportunity to shine the light brighter on environmental topics that Scottsdale focuses on year-round.
