Scottsdale Public Library is happy to announce that all four library branches will be fully open 7-days a week beginning Monday, Jan. 10. We are excited to see you in the new year!

Listen to stories and participate in finger plays, music, and rhyming activities with your little ones! Space is limited on a first-come, first-served basis so please see a staff person prior to the start of each program to pick up a ticket which will be your registration.

These are continuing education units level classes taught by real teachers but can be taken at your own pace online. Newspaper Archives

Now available, Newspaper Archives! With Newspaper Archives, you can now digitally access local Arizona newspapers' archives of issues, including the Scottsdale Progress (1948-1977). Find local papers from around the state and information like obituaries, local events, and more online with easy search options. Learn more about local history with our new digital newspapers archives available at ScottsdaleLibrary.org.



Special Recognition

Anna Unterberger

The Scottsdale Public Library would like to recognize and thank Anna Unterberger for her generous financial donation to support the online database of historic newspapers. Ms. Unterberger is a strong library supporter, and in addition to the financial support of the Newspaper Archives database, she also serves on the Friends of the Scottsdale Public Library Board. Anna’s contribution will benefit the community and library staff through the database by providing a convenient and effective way to access historical newspaper information while complimenting the Scottsdale Heritage Connection space and collection. What Can Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Work and Writings Teach Us Now?

Join a community town hall discussion that considers Dr. King's final published work, Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? and what lessons it, and Dr. King's other work, have for us today. This discussion is for everyone ages 15 and older, and is hosted by the Scottsdale Human Relations Commission. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free, but registration is required.

Celebrate Successes, Focus on the Future
at Mayor Ortega's State of Scottsdale Address

Scottsdale Mayor David D. Ortega will hold his "State of Scottsdale" address from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 E. Second St. The event is free to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. Register to attend by 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14. "I know that Scottsdale is at its best when the citizens are heard, when development is done responsibly, and when families and businesses can thrive," said Mayor David D. Ortega. "The State of the City is my opportunity to talk about that vision, our current successes, and our upcoming challenges. I hope you will attend."
